A topic is what a prompt is about, in this brand’s own words: “Invoicing for freelancers”, “Switching from a spreadsheet”. A project holds its own list, and a prompt belongs to at most one topic. A prompt with none sits under “No topic”. A topic and a persona answer two different questions. The persona is who asks. The topic is what is asked.

What a topic does

A topic groups prompts. The Overview page breaks visibility and answers down by topic, and every other page takes a topic filter. The last row of that breakdown is the prompts with no topic. A topic is a label only. It is never sent to an assistant, so it changes nothing about how a prompt runs. Renaming a topic, or moving a prompt to another one, keeps every trend line: the prompt’s history moves with it.

Where topics come from

The setup wizard proposes topics and writes prompts for each one you keep. Every topic you keep becomes one of the project’s topics, even when you removed all of its prompts. After setup, Settings adds, renames and deletes them, under Project. Deleting a topic that has prompts moves them to another topic or leaves them with none. The Prompts page shows each prompt’s topic and lets you change it. A new prompt can be added under a topic. Suggested prompts carry one too. A replacement for a prompt that has gone quiet keeps that prompt’s topic. A question proposed from a page rivals are cited on is filed under one of this brand’s topics, or under none. A suggestion never creates a topic.
