A competitor is a brand that the project monitors beside this brand. Every monitored brand has a website, and share of voice counts monitored brands only. Plan limits states how many a project can monitor. A brand is in one of four states:

The answer at the top

The page asks whether the answers name this brand more often than its competitors. It answers from share of voice: yes when this brand’s share is above every rival’s. Otherwise it names the leader and this brand’s rank.

The share of voice bar

The bar splits the mentions of the monitored brands between them, so it adds up to 100%. The strongest brands show by name, and the rest fold into one segment. Share of voice says how the share is counted.

The table of monitored brands

The table reads the period that the filter picks. Sort by visibility, share of voice or mentions. Export CSV saves the table, from the Pro tier.

Other spellings

A row opens the brand’s other spellings. An answer that writes one of them counts for the brand. Add a spelling to count it in the answers already collected at once. Remove one, and the answers it matched stay counted. Under the spellings, Seen in answers lists spellings that the answers used and the project does not hold:
  • A spelling counted as the brand passed the spelling check. Adding it makes the match exact.
  • A spelling not counted failed the check. Add it only when it really is the brand.
How answers are analysed states the check.

Adding and removing a competitor

Add a competitor takes a name and a website. Its mentions in the answers already collected count at once. Its sentiment and recommendation start from the next collection, so for some days they cover fewer answers than its visibility. Stop monitoring, the × on a row, asks first. The brand leaves every figure, and share of voice is counted again without it. Its mentions stay stored. It returns to the detected list, or you can add it again under the table. A name, a spelling or a website belongs to one brand only. A brand that a persona’s sentence names cannot be monitored until you edit the persona.

Detected, not yet monitored

The analysis lists the other brands that each answer names. The strongest of them show here, with the answers that named them and the newest day. They count in no figure until somebody monitors them.
  • Monitor as competitor asks for the website, then monitors the brand.
  • See evidence opens the newest answer that named it.
  • × dismisses it. It is no longer offered, and its mentions stay stored.
The list shows up to 15 brands. It is part of the Advanced tier. On another tier, the card says so.
