# Personas

> Who asks each prompt, and the sentence sent in front of it.

A persona is who asks a prompt, in this brand's own words: "Head of finance at a mid-size software company", "First-time shopper". A project holds its own list, and a prompt carries at most one persona. A prompt with none is asked as a stranger.

## What a persona does

A persona does two things.

It groups prompts. The Overview page breaks visibility and answers down by persona, and every other page takes a persona filter. The last row of that breakdown is the prompts with no persona.

It can carry a sentence. When a persona has one, that sentence is sent in front of every prompt attached to it, and the prompt is still asked once a day. An example: "I run finance at a 200-person software company in Germany. Which invoicing tool should I use?" The assistant then answers that buyer instead of a stranger, and the answer page shows the sentence under the prompt as "Asked as".

A persona without a sentence changes nothing about how the prompt runs.

## What a sentence costs

Nothing in prompts. A prompt counts once for each market of its project whether or not it carries a persona.

Something in history. The sentence is part of the question, so attaching a persona that has a sentence, editing that sentence, or moving a prompt to a persona with a different sentence is a rewording. The prompt's trend line restarts from the next collection. What it measured before stays on the row.

## What a sentence may not say

A sentence never names this brand, one of its spellings, or a competitor the project monitors. An answer that mentions a brand because the question named it measures nothing, so the app refuses the sentence.

Write only what changes how an assistant reads the question: the role, the size of the company, the country, the constraint. A biography steers the answer towards the persona's own words instead of the question.

## Where to set one up

The setup wizard asks for personas before it writes prompts, and writes each prompt for one of them. After setup, Settings adds, edits and deletes them, under Project. Deleting a persona that has prompts moves them to another persona or leaves them with none.

The Prompts page shows each prompt's persona and lets you change it. A new prompt can be added with a persona.

Suggested prompts carry one too. A replacement for a prompt that has gone quiet keeps that prompt's persona. A question proposed from a page rivals are cited on is written for one of this brand's personas, and the panel says how the batch splits between them before anything is accepted.
